Do you secretly wonder:
- If that person in the mirror is really you?
- If there’s still time to fulfil your dreams?
- If your ageing body will let you do what you want to do?
- If you have what you need to see out the rest of your days in comfort?
- If the quantity and quality of your relationships will sustain you?
Depressed? So were we!
Then we realised that despite the less-than-fabulous press about midlife and ageing, we actually felt pretty damn good about the future. In fact, we were looking forward to crafting a second half that had the potential to be even better than our first.
We know that the challenges we are embracing at this age and stage are really opportunities in disguise, so we decided to share our journey and hard earned wisdom with other smart, self-aware midlife women committed to making their second half deliberately delicious.
But what to call ourselves? The words about women at midlife aren’t very inspiring and some of them are downright negative, so we decided to invent our own. Thus The Ripenists was born to evoke women ripe with experience and wisdom consciously choosing to create a second half worthy of them. Our logo – the Passionfruit – is a deliberate choice too. The more wrinkled it becomes on the outside, the sweeter it is on the inside – surely a great metaphor for our ripening years.
Here you’ll find articles, inspiration and online courses to help you find your own answers as you work through the big questions of midlife. You’ll also find a community of like-minded women generously sharing their thoughts, wisdom and encouragement via the comments on our articles, Facebook and the forums that accompany our courses.
Our intention for all who journey with us is that you take active steps to craft a second half you consider to be deliberately delicious.
It’s early days yet and we’re just getting started but if being a Ripenist resonates with you, please participate in our community by leaving comments on our ripenings, sharing your thoughts and experiences on Facebook and most importantly tell your friends and join us to have our Weekly Wisdom sent straight to your inbox.
Welcome, we’re delighted to meet you!
